Our journey so far
From an unyielding ambition to circumnavigate the globe to rigorous days tackling the waters of the Thames Estuary, discover how the Quantum Drake odyssey became a reality.

The awakening and full send
A quiet dream of sailing the world roared into reality when I decided on no half measures. The sea runs through my veins, and stepping back aboard felt entirely natural. To build the foundation, I purchased Freedom, a 1979 Quartet ocean racer version 2. Sailing three to four times a week and racing twice weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays, this responsive craft demands total precision and teaches the true art of seamanship.

Testing grounds on the Thames Estuary
I chose one of the world's most demanding training arenas: the River Thames Estuary, noted by Sir Ben Ainslie for its raw challenge. Battling wind gusts up to 36 miles per hour, dropping sails by hand, navigating dense commercial shipping lanes, and managing sudden engine failures have shaped my instincts. Training new crew members alongside formal qualification exams continuously sharpens my ability under pressure.

Building towards Quantum Drake
Every hard mile sailed on Freedom is dedicated preparation for the vessel that will carry this circumnavigation: Quantum Drake. This expedition is about daring to begin, transforming fear into courage, and inspiring others along the way. Whether through monthly sponsorship, funding support, or following our milestones, you can be part of this daring voyage from day one.
"This is a return to salt, wind, fear, courage, and the wild freedom that only the sea can give. The odyssey starts now."
